Meet Heidi

Heidi is our new family member, she is a 1 - 2 year old, brown and white speckled, English shepherd female. We now have a farm dog, and hopefully a trail dog. She is settling in very well, it is much nicer here than the animal shelter!

Here are a few snaps of her...

Waiting Patiently and Preparing

best2

I sent in my Freestyle video on Thursday morning, and have not heard back. I am sure they have it and will hopefully hear back from them sometime this week or early next week, I am anxious to hear if I passed or not. But I am waiting patiently and enjoying the fact I am not having to stress about getting Level 3 done anymore, I have done all I need to and can take the "Level 3 monkey" off my back after almost 4 years. I feel like a free woman now!

Sundance and I have a 1 hour demo to do at Sundance Stables http://www.sundancestables.com/  in the Charlotte area on April 18 at 1:00 PM, with a friend, Lisa Rask, and her horse Duck. They are having a Parade of Barns for the Charlotte area, take a look at http://www.hindsfeetfarm.org/support.asp?id=9,  we are expecting up to 100 people. I hopefully will have a microphone on me whilst up on Sundance, and will be talking about ourselves, the Parelli program, demonstrating the Parelli Seven games, demonstrating the Parelli Patterns and doing a bridle-less demo. I will feel like Pat Parelli title2himself, doing what I want to do, being myself.  We will also be taking questions while doing the demo, so I may be shot with some hard ones. I am getting Sundance prepared physically for the demo, he has been in hibernation over the winter and it is time to get him back into shape. We will probably be doing a lot of long line driving and some hill therapy to get that top line woken up, I will also be putting some weight on him. Summer is slowly creeping back up, it is time to start traveling and doing demos again... the horse world wakes up in the summer, it is just vibrant and exhilarating. I myself has lost some weight, coming out of that winter rut and out back into the spotlight, I am ready for the world.

I have been talking lately a lot about my dancing, I will be recording a part of my session Tuesday and putting it up here so you all can see a little of my dance. I have found dance very helpful with horses, and horses very helpful with dance and also has helped me in dealing and learning about other peoples personalities and how they perceive things. I highly recommend taking dance classes to any equine lover, and I personally don't ever want to stop learning and progressing in it. Here is more info on my dance studio, http://www.dancesportcarolina.com/ , if you are in the area you can get a free private introduction lesson, just to get a taste of what you are getting into.

Not much of anything else is going on in my life, I think I about have it covered! If you want any more information on the events above please email me at mariahhelms@hotmail.com.

March Madness

Cathy & Mariah

(Mariah & Cathy at Abuelo's in Myrtle Beach this past weekend)

Hello Family,

First off, I would like to offer an apology for not being as consistent as I should on keeping all of you updated on my life. It has been quite hectic, in a good way. I have been very quite sick the past 3 weeks or so, but I am pretty stubborn and have teamed up with my new best friends "Cough Drop", "Alka-celtzer" and "Tylenol". The play day was relaxing, and met some wonderful new friends. One of which I will be going to his stables and working with his horse on Saturday here in Charlotte.

The herd is doing very well, a new Vet came over Thursday to give them their spring shots. All I heard from him was "Your horses are so well mannered!", what a compliment. I have also been enjoying my dance a lot, I am starting Bronze 2 after only 6 lessons and my dance instructor invited me to the 'Dance' on Friday afternoon. I am really enjoying this dance, I know I would do this as a living if I was not into horses and I plan to continue to be the best me I can be in it just like I am with the horses. I have been asked to be interviewed on Natural Horse Network on April 15, 2009 at 5 PM MST/7PM EST, Pat & Linda Parelli have been interviewed here, so have Neil Pye & Mary Ann Kennedy. I am very excited about this rare opportunity, and very thankful.

I have also been asked to do a couple of other performances here in the Charlotte area, which I am very flattered by. I am going to, soon, if the Lord allows, to take the last step in which I will get my green string. Sundance and I have practiced twice, and we are about ready. If the weather is nice, either tomorrow or Wednesday we will get it taped. I am excited about it, and really hope they will be impressed. I hope all of you are having a wonderful time, and would love it if any of you could leave a comment and give me and update on how everything is going in your life.

Cheers!

Liberty Audition Results are In

From Carol...

Hello Mariah,

Congratulations!! You passed your Level 3++ Liberty!!!! Hurray! Very nice use of arena, very nice use of your techniques. You had tons of level 4 so to really make it a solid Level 4 you would want to do some Liberty in the round pen and play the 7 games and make sure you allow the horse to circle 6 to 8 laps with you standing in neutral then leave the round pen and go play in the open as you did also include some change of direction and transitions and some flying changes.
Great job! It was a pleasure to watch.

It will be a couple of weeks before you get your certificate, as I said before we are working on the logistics of getting them to you.

Please reply to this e-mail and let me know you received it. Please include your full name, address, phone, e-mail, horse’s name, Savvy#.

Thanks and you are so on the RIGHT TRACK!!

Talk to ya soon.
Carol
